What is a UTM Zone?
UTM divides the world into 60 vertical zones. Each zone is 6 degrees wide. GIS software uses UTM zones to measure distance and area in meters more accurately than normal latitude and longitude.
When should you use this tool?
Use it when choosing the correct CRS in QGIS or ArcGIS, finding an EPSG code before reprojecting data, preparing data for PostGIS, working with GPS coordinates, or checking projection zones for well-known country locations.
